Original thoughts enter seated.
The belt fits every head without answering it.
Nobody arrives empty. Each worker brings a private stack of hunches, doubts, and unfinished arguments. The machinery ignores the contents. It measures the pause, lowers one cap, and advances the chair exactly one position.
The first cap arrives hot from the overhead track. The second arrives before the new wearer has settled on an answer. By the third chair, colour has drained from the uniform, but not necessarily from the mind. Nobody is told what to think. The line merely makes independent thinking look suspiciously well organized.
Keep your questions under the cap.
